Not a bad walk today, but nothing really special. Most of it next to one road or another, with the roads getting more busy as León became closer. Like the villages if the Meseta, León hides until you come over a hill and see it. Unlike the villages, it's a sizeable city with industry, suburbs and a centre full of people. I rather like it - and tomorrow is to be a rest day, so I can go on liking it for an extra day!
We're staying at an Albergue owned by the Franciscan order, which has clearly been modernised fairly recently. It's adjacent to the St Francis Gardens.
It's about a ten minute walk from the cathedral, on the edge of the real city centre area. There's also a cheese shop within 100m, so I now have a certain amount of local sheeps' cheese to snack in, and also a shoe shop, one of the cheap ones that has every size except the one you want. I needed something other than the flip-flops I'd packed for evenings, because I need to be able to explore towns and villages as well as walk around inside the Albergue. I managed to get the only suitable pair in my size, with friendly help from the one member of staff with any English!
It's quite nice to be looking forward to a rest day, especially in a city which looks interesting to know.
